Africa is advancing by leaps and bounds in adoption and use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in both private and public sectors. Innovations that began in Africa such as the development of mobile financial services and the rise of mobile data are now spreading beyond the continent. Furthermore, Africa is home to the youngest population in the world with 200 million aged between 15 – 24 years. At the same time, internet penetration is above 25% and growing.
The billion-dollar question, for ICT investors, is whether the opportunity afforded by Africa’s large and growing population outweighs the structural challenges the continent presents. Despite the transformation brought by mobile money and e-commerce services in Africa, issues such as connectivity, fraud, fragmented and uncertain regulatory environment have handicapped the industry. Governments across the continent are increasingly using ICT as a tool to improve efficiency, accessibility transparency and accountability through implementation of e-government as a response to these weaknesses.
We are pleased to invite you to the joint event organized in association with LuxAfrica on ICT developments in Africa. During this event, we will see through different lenses and practical experiences how ICT can fuel investors’ return in Africa and how to navigate the continent’s challenges.
